The Jazz Prep program is a mentoring outreach program available to 7th - 12th graders. Students from Oak Park, River Forest or Forest Park, who demonstrate financial need are accepted into the program on scholarship. To begin with, students are given lessons with a Jazz instrument (guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, saxophone, or horn). Working up to practicing with other students as a group with the goal of performing for others.
The scholarships available with this program are sponsored in part by the Oak Park Area Arts Council, in partnership with the Village of Oak Park, Forest Park and River Forest, and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation, and RBC Dain Rauscher, as well as by individual contributors.
